King Arthur and his Knights of the round table
are all in one legend, but Merlin has a legend
to himself. In TA Barron’s ‘The Lost Years of
Merlin’ he brings clerity to Merlin’s childhood.
Merlin went out to see and washed up on the
shores of Fincayra, a place of many wonders,
celebrated by bards of many tongues. They
say it lies halfway between our world and the
world of the spirit - neither wholly of Earth nor
wholly of Heaven, a bridge connecting both. This
is where he learns about his past and his family.
He also discovers the truth about his sister, and
his future. Merlin in the King Arthur tales is his
friend, his advisor and a wizard. It is because
of Merlin that Arthur was born in the movie
Excalibur. What do we really know about Merlin?
Not much. Merlin can see into the future, he can
time travel, he can heal people who can not be healed by a ‘doctor’, but his most common trick is to appear ‘out of thin air’ and disappear just as quick. He can not be told what to do for he is more powerful than a human. Merlin’s real name was Emery’s. He was named Merlin buy his sister on Fincayra because he saved a merlins life. Merlin is very important to the Arthurian Legend because if Merlin didn’t exist then Excalibur would never have gotten into the hands of Arthur and with out the sword, there would be no Legend. It is said that Merlin is trapped in a crystal cave under a tree where Morgan le Fay, or Morgan the Fait, trapped him for eternity.
